GetResponse offers a 30-day free trial for a list up to 250 subscribers with no credit card required so you can easily get started easily. Once your trial will expire, there are a number of pricing plan available that you can choose based on your need and enjoy more benefits.

GetResponse review – In-depth detail
GetResponse is packed with a number of useful features that you can use to get the most out of your email marketing. In this GetResponse review, I’ll show you in-depth detail to learn more about their features.
Here is how to use them:
The 3 steps process on dashboard gives you a nice idea to know how to get started in your email marketing. Let’s expand it more:
- Add Contacts: If you already have a list of email subscribers then import it get started.
- Create Form: If you don’t have a list then create forms and place it on your blog, landing page or anywhere you want to collect leads.
- Create Newsletter: Create emails to send it your subscribers to teach them, to sell them, to alert them, other responses etc.
You can manage the members of your email list by using Contacts option in GetResponse. It has further categories that you can use based on your need.
You have two options when it comes to searching contacts in GetResponse account. You can use simple search or advanced search options to find contacts in your list.
Just you need to hover over your to Contacts and click on Search Contacts.
To look for specific contacts, just type in contact name or email, you will see the list of subscribers that contained information relevant to your search term.
The list of subscribers will bring up their subscribers’ history. You can view and edit the contact information detail (assign a tag, unsubscribe or delete them).
You can also use Advance search to find the contacts.
Advance search has further 3 options to find contacts:
- From one or more campaigns
- From Autoresponder sequence
- By Subscription Date
You can also segment the contacts by adding a condition. You can add up to 8 conditions to segment the contacts. It will narrow down your contacts based on your implemented conditions.
You can manually add the contacts to your list but make sure you have the permission of prospects before adding their information to your list.
You can also import contact in different ways:
- By uploading their written information in a specific way
- By uploading a file that contains contacts
- From other popular platforms where you have your contacts
Email marketing works great when you become personalize to your audience. In GetResponse, you can use custom code to personalize your message for each contact. This usage code, when added to the email, will change the specific contact data that you saved for each subscriber.
To create a custom field, just you need to go Add Custom Field category in Contacts. Name your custom field (only in lower case letters) and choose your type for the specific custom field.
Currently, GetResponse offering different field types to personalize your email. Here are they:
- Country: It will show a list of countries. You can also deselect the countries that you don’t want to show in the list.
- Currency: It will show difference currencies that your subscriber can choose from.
- Date: It allows your subscriber to pick the date as a convenient year, month and day.
- Date Time: It is just similar to date but it allows to manage time as well.
- Gender: Selection of gender, male or female.
- Number: This field allows only numeric entries only.
- Phone: This field allows to choose the flag with for their countries prefix to enter the correct phone number.
- Text: You subscribers can write text or can answer by using the text field.
- URL: This field allows only URL with correct format otherwise it’ll show it as wrong.
After this you have to choose the format then by assigning value, you custom field will ready.
The fields you made will be available at the bottom of already made custom fields.
Next is suppression list, if you aren’t aware of this term in email marketing then let’s clear it up.
Suppression list contains email addresses where you can’t send your emails. Your unsubscribers will automatically be added to your suppression list or you can manually add them so it will prevent you from sending emails to your unsubscribers, inactive or invalid email addresses.
In GetResponse, you have two options to create suppression list. You can type in the email addresses or you can upload a file. It’s very easy, just you need to go to suppression list category in Contacts and you will both options, choose the way which is easy for you.
In email marketing, it never means that if you have a high number of subscribers in your list then surely you will more money, actually, it’s not.
Quality matters more than the quantity!
List hygiene is a practice that ensures that good quality of lists. You can easily blacklist and remove the contacts from your email list by using list hygiene feature. It will help you in removing duplicate contacts, blacklisting undesirable and spammy looking domains
You will notice improve deliverability, more open rate, best click-through rate and finally the good customers.
To create your first campaign, GetResponse offers your two ways to edit your email. If you are beginner then you can easily create your newsletters with Drag-and-Drop Email Editor. However, if you are an advanced user then you can code your email in your desired way by using HTML Source Editor option.
Initially, you should start your campaign with Drage-and-Drop Email Editor, if you don’t know how to do that then follow these 5 steps to master your email creation.
Select Drag-and-Drop Email Edit option in Create Newsletter followed by Messages.
Now you have to follow these steps:
Step 1: You’ve to name your newsletter which is visible to you but not your subscribers, also create your subject line and choose email from which you want to send newsletters to your subscribers.
Step 2: GetResponse offers you multiple template designs to create your newsletter. You can choose templates based on their category that you can simply improve the pre-made designs in your own way.
If you don’t want any fancy looking design then you are free to choose Plain Text to design your email from scratch.
Step 3: Once you’ve selected a template then you’ll move to Drag-and-Drop Email Editor, you can edit text, you can drag and drop additional things to such as the social icon, PayPal button, images, text etc to design your email newsletter.
While editing your email newsletter, you can preview your email for mobile devices on the same page. You can also send a test email to test your email newsletter.
Step 4: Now you’ve to choose the recipients whom you want to send your newsletters. You can send it all of your subscribers or you can send it to a specific campaign.
Step 5: In the last step, you’ve to review all that you did in previous steps and then you’re ready to send your newsletters. You can send them immediately or you can also schedule this campaign.
You can manage your campaigns in My Campaigns.
Creating the autoresponder in GetResponse isn’t big deal and you don’t need to follow complex steps to start your workflow. You can easily do that within 2 steps. Here is how to do that:
Step 1: Just go Create Autoresponder followed by Messages. First, you need to set up the day when your autoresponder series should start after the subscriber will import to your list.
If you want to send an email immediately after the subscriber import to your list then you have to choose Day – 0, you will be asked to send it immediately, with the delay of X hours or you can also set up a specific time (email will not be sent before this time). You can deselect the day when you don’t want to send email, else you can start your workflow for all days.
Apart from that, you can also choose the X day to send email to the subscribers after they’ll be imported to your email list if you don’t want to start autoresponder immediately.
In this case, you can send your email exactly at the same time when your subscriber signed up the previous day, you can also send the autoresponder with the delay with X hours or you can set up an exact time to send your email.
After you can select the previously made emails or you can create a new email that you want to send to your subscriber. Name your autoresponder however you like.
To start your workflow, hit Save button if you don’t want to start this autoresponder immediately or if you are ready to launch your autoresponder series to your list then you can press Save and Publish to start your workflow immediately.
On next step, you can set up your email series.
You are free to send more emails within the same day. Just set up your email series and manage your time with them.
Your autoresponders will be available to Manage Autoresponders category so you can manage your autoresponder if you want to make changes or delete them.
GetResponse offers a Preload feature that you can use to copy your email between campaigns. Just choose the source campaign and message type then choose the destination campaign and message type. Select the messages that you want to copy then click on Copy button or if you want to replace the messages then press Replace button.
You can also the change the day the autoresponder will be sent. Click on Save and it’s done.
Use RSS-to-Email feature to reach your blog audience by updating them with your new blog post. Provide the link to your RSS Feed and set up your schedule (daily, weekly, monthly). Apart from that, you can also set up social sharing option to post updates on your social media sites.
Just use any pre-made template and set your the personalization tags in your email so it will automatically pick the title, author, content, images, etc
Here are some tags that you can use in your email:
- [[rss_title]] – Inserts title of RSS
- [[rssitem_title]] – inserts title of your post
- [[rssitem_author]] – inserts author’s name
- [[rssitem_content]] -inserts content of blog post
- [[rssitem_image]] – inserts link to the image added to the post
- [[rss_url]] – inserts URL address of your blog post
- [[rss_description]] – inserts RSS description
- [[rss_comments]] – inserts amount of comments
Just use only required personalization tags that work best for your email updates. If you don’t know how to use them in your email template then read this guide.
GetResponse online survey helps you to understand what your audience wants and what are their desires. To create an online survey, click on Survey and click Create new. Fill out the requested information and go to next steps.
To create the questions, use the drag and drops tool. Question types are:
- Multiple Choice (One Answer Only)
- Multiple Choice (Multiple Answers)
- Text (Single-Line Answer)
- Text (Paragraph Answer)
- Subscription Form (To add those who didn’t sign up for your mailing list yet)
You can also organize your survey into Pages by clicking on Add pages. Click on Save button if you want to work on survey later or if you are ready to publish it then click on Save and publish survey button.
Manage your surveys list in the given category Survey List followed by Surveys.
GetResponse offers you integration feature to integrate with hundreds of other services to collect subscribers.
Apart from that, if you are a developer then you can also submit your app to GetResponse for integration.
Statistics are most important aspect of email marketing, you’ve to pay attention to email open rate, click through rate, campaign goals, social media bounce, unsubscribe and spam complaint ratio. If you’ll not pay attention to the statistic of your email account then it may result in high unsubscribe rate or low open rate etc.
In GetResponse, you can get access to statistics of your email and surveys stats in Statistics tab. You can also set up a custom report delivered to you via email in Manage Reports.
GetResponse offers you hundreds of free templates to create forms. You can easily customize with text, color, images etc.
Use List Builder App, for special opt-in boxes with no extra cost.
To create a form, hover over to Forms and click on Create Form, you’ve to select List Building Wizard to choose the web form template. GetResponse also offers a special feature, Color Magic which matches the form color with the scheme of your website.
You’ll see a list of categories, click on any category to choose the fGetResponseorm that matches your choice. Hover over to any template and click on Use Template to start your editing process.
You’re not limited to use their already made design, using the website form editor you can easily replace the placeholder text with your custom text, color and other elements by using drag-and-drop.
In advance editing tool, you have 3 categories to customize your form in your desired shape. Here are they:
- Add Field: Add a predefined custom field or create new field by GetResponse System.
- Layout: This section enables you to edit the layout and structure of your form.
- Styler: It helps in changing the form color, set a border radius, or use a picture at background.
Hit Save and Publish after you’ll be done editing your form. You can also design a Thank You Page where you can get your visitors after opted in from web form.
GetResponser offers a user-friendly editor for landing pages so you can create your desired landing pages for your email marketing needs.
If you’re using free trial then you’re limited to use one landing page for free which is limited to 1000 visitors. You can build multiple landing pages and unlock the visitors limit by purchasing the landing pages add-on (cost: $15/month). This feature is limited to premium plans only.
To create a landing page, go to Landing Pages and click on Create. You’ll be provided with a list of different categories, choose the category to choose the form that matches your choice.
Hover over to your selected landing page and click on Use Temple to start editing process.
GetResponse provides use flexible and easy to use landing page editor. You can use different tools to edit the landing page into your desired form.
You can test your landing page by editing and preview for mobile devices. Just similar to web forms, you can also create Thank You page for landing pages.
Once you will be done click on Save & Exit if you don’t want to publish it immediately or click on Next Step to complete finalize SEO Settings of your landing page to publish it.
The landing page can be hosted to subdomain given my GetResponse or you can publish it to your custom domain. Hit Publish button after filling out the SEO details.

Step 2: To share your webinar on social sites, you can add Facebook and Twitter account. By default, code of your webinar will be available to everyone but if you don’t want to keep it public so you can set up a password to make it private. Choose your destination campaign to which attendees or registrants should be added.
If your attendees click on the invitation before the webinar starts, then they have to wait in an online lobby. Customize the lobby message to tell them about your marketing agenda. You can also assign them to specific autoresponder cycle
Step 3: Now, you have to choose your webinar invitation template to invite your attendees. Every template is fully responsive and works great even for mobile devices. Choose your desired template to start your editing process.
